      In the will of James Verse Philo of 16 (1A?) Glaucus Street, Devons Road, Bromley dated 1895 he appointed his wife Louisa Philo, Thomas George James Philo and James Arthur Philo as executors. He left all his money and effects to his wife, the business to be carried on by Louisa with Thomas George James Philo as manager during her lifetime. On the death of Louisa Philo the business to be sold and cash shared between his six sons and five daughters, or the business carried on if a suitable arrangement can be made. Witnessed by Alice Mary Ann Trengrove (marries TGJP in 1900) and Esther Elizabeth Reeves.

      In a codicil dated 1907 James directed that on the death of his wife Louisa all of the freehold land & buildings were to be equally divided among his sons & daughters, Thomas George James, James Arthur, George Edwin, Matilda Caroline, Esther Lillian, Joseph Stanley,Elizabeth Francis, Minnie Louisa, Louisa Matilda. Witnessed by J Cox and A H B Guy (marries Esther Lilian Philo in 1911). ( Arthur Herbert & Charles Edwin are not mentioned in the will, they have been cut out!).
